Research Your Keywords

You will be amazed just how many times in the past we have heard business owners brag about having their website ranked for keywords that nobody if anybody is searching for. If you are the only website selling stuffed toys of elephants with zebra patterned skin then of course it’s highly likely you can get your website ranked top in the search results for “Elephant teddy in zebra print” or something similar to that since nobody else are selling such an item.

Now start a new business selling the latest top model of a Samsung mobile phone and try to out rank the millions of other people who are selling the same model or who mention the name on website pages.  It now becomes a different ball game. But you can narrow your keywords down by being more specific. So let’s say you sell dried mango then you can use keywords such as;

• Exotic dry Thai mango
• Dried mango pieces
• Sweet dried mango for sale online
• Cheap dried mango in sale
• Dried mango bulk sales

So there are many ways in which you can alter the keywords you wish to use to get valuable hits from potential customers but be realistic. Don’t think you can get a high page rank and compete over night with other sites who have been in the game much longer than you. To run a successful online business is not all about high searched keywords but specific keywords and other things such as good content, good link building and even luck.
