Top Six SEO Tips & Tricks

SEO The Ultimate Guiide
Website Speed

Website speed has been a ranking factor since 2010. Why would Google and the like want to list websites at the top of their search results that take 30 seconds to load? If your page load time is more than 5 seconds, then you should take steps to improve it.

Having website content that is useful and interesting is all good and well but if it takes a long time for your page to load fully then your website visitors will leave. So don’t provide a bad user experience.

Page Headlines

Open a newspaper or magazine and what do we look for? What stands out and grabs our attention? It’s the article headline of course.

If your page, product or article headline is mediocre, then your click-through rate will be low. On average five times as many people will read your page headline than actually read the body content. We know this ourselves since when we open a newspaper or magazine we use our eyes to read the headlines before deciding whether the content of the article will be of interest to us and if we will read that article or turn the next page. Your websites visitors will do the same.

Page Content

This has been covered but will be mentioned again since it is a vital part of SEO. Content is king. Without good content, kiss goodbye to website visitors and product sales.

You can not rely on your website designer to know what content is useful for your business. This is something you must be yourself. Your website designer would have built sites for restaurants, real estate companies, steel factories, farming companies, diving sites etc. That does not mean that the designer is an expert in Sushi preparation, real estate laws, metal production, using organic pig feeder or a PADI qualified dive instructor. If you do not know about your business and how to break down the services you provide or the products you sell with words and phrases associated with your company then why are you even in business in the first place.

If you are an expert in your field then apply what you know to the content of your web pages and success will follow.

Page Meta Descriptions

Meta descriptions on web pages are there primarily to help guide search engines as to what that web page is selling, promoting or in general about. Meta descriptions help search engines and searchers understand what the topic is and why your targeted keywords and phrases keep appearing in the content.

Your website if designed by PATTAYAMEDIA.com may have a special plugin installed that will enable you to write meta descriptions for every page. If you don’t yet have this software installed, please contact PATTAYAMEDIA.com staff and request this.

Keyword Frequency

Keyword frequency simply means how many times your chosen keywords appear on the web page. For example, if your target keyword is “best web design in Thailand” how many times will this exact keyword phrase appear in your 300, 500 or 1000+ word article? In contrast, keyword density is concerned with the ratio of “best web design in Thailand,” to other words on the same page.

But one very important point to understand is that Keyword frequency and density are no longer as effective as they used to be. This is because it’s too easy to manipulate and trick the search engines so Google started rolling out frequent updates that no longer made keyword frequency as popular. However, keyword frequency is still an important part of SEO content. But do not make the basic optimization mistake of keyword stuffing, excessive keyword insertion and header tag stuffing. It will end with your site even further down in page rank.

So again, the same principle applies with writing good web content and branch off in the text from your chosen keywords. For example, an Elephant is not just an Elephant. It is a mammal, with a trunk, found in Asia and Africa, with big ears, large trunk, has tusks made or ivory etc. I think you get the point!

Page links are the basic building blocks of your web page. Page links (other sites out there that link to you) tell Google that you’re connected and sociable and that you’ve got useful content that people can access somewhere else. Page links don’t just come from other sites but equally throughout your own site with pages having articles and text that link to other pages within your site.

But remember it’s not just about getting lots of websites pout there linking to yours but rather high quality links from high quality websites.
