Web design prices Thailand

Web design prices Thailand - How much will I have to pay(1)

A guide to website design prices in Thailand

]The price for a website design in Thailand will vary from company to company and be based on a number of factors. The primary factors that determine a price for a website are listed below:

  • The size and complexity of the site.
  • How many hours are estimated to be spent building the site.
  • Information only website vs a site that requires a database such as ecommerce websites, real estate websites, etc.
  • The budget as set by the company or individual who are commissioning the website build.

In general conversation we get asked very frequently what is the price of website design and the simple answer would always be “how long is a piece of string?”. Imagine asking a tailor how much it cost to custom build a suit. The same design of a suit for a 5ft tall, 55 kilo male will require less fabric than the suit of a 6ft tall, 100 kilo male for example. Not only that but the tailor will have what can be unlimited types of fabric that will all range in price. The more elaborate the design of the suit will generally take more time and we all know time is money.

What other factors can determine the price for a website design in Thailand?

If you send 5 general enquires to 5 independent web design companies in Thailand requesting a price quote, then you will be shocked to find the price can vary from say 15,000 to 200,000. This is where it can get very confusing for the customer because they will not understand why these web design prices are so far off each other. The answer can sometimes be very simple and so we will look into that in this article and explain to you while “generally” the prices for website design in Thailand will vary significantly.

On average, most web design companies in Pattaya for example will usually have around 4 new customers each month. So we will use a base price for each company and x or divide the price by 4 to give you a basic understanding of how most companies in Pattaya charge their clients for website design builds.

Please note: This explanation and example is not always the case exactly, however, this is a good guideline based on basic common sense that you will know from your own overheads for your business and so acts as a good guideline.

Imagine walking into a luxury fitted web design office and be greeted by an excellent English speaking secretary who asks you for your name, if you would like a coffee and please be seated. The average starting salary for a secretary like this is going to be 18,000 – 22000 Baht. So let’s meet in the middle and say the Thai secretary salary is going to be 20,000 Baht. Now while working on the basis that most web design companies in Pattaya will average 4 new customers per month and you are new customer no 1, then for the privilege of meeting that secretary alone has just added 5000 Baht to your web design bill.

You then get asked to make your way to the conference room and on the way there you pass 4 web programmers sat at their PC’s. Again, with web programmers, their salary will vary according on many factors such but for arguments sake, let’s say their salaries are 30,000 Thai Baht each which is on the much lower scale of a programmers salary. So 120,000 divided by 4 = another 30,000 baht added to your bill.

You now get to meet the sales team which consists of 1 sales, 1 accountant and the general manager who will discuss your requirements and needs. Again, to keep things simple let’s put their combined salary at 90,000 Baht so you now have a further 30,000 Baht added to your bill and you haven’t even sat down to start talking about what you need yet or indeed met the owner or CEO of the web design business. Did you see that Mercedes Benz parked outside before you came in? That’s his and his monthly purchase hire costs are very high so get ready, because a chunk of that is going to be added to your bill too.

Not only will the boss want to profit from the website they will build for you to get his cut which will be higher than his staffs wages that’s for sure, but the cost for the office rental, general expenses like wifi contracts, PC’s and new devices and software to constantly build and check the websites as well as many other things will always be added to your website design bill. To cover the wages of all those employees alone then your bill would need to be at least 65,000 Baht and that does not include all the other expenses that your web design fee will need to cover.

So you have to ask yourself, does your website really need the attention of a secretary, 3 programmers, a sales and accounting team, a general manager and a fat cat boss in order to be built? Chances are absolutely not. So why pay such high prices just to keep companies like this afloat? Most people who use these companies are not spending their own money when they approach them. They are usually employees of big companies who have big budgets to spend on building sites. So if you price a website too low for Sony, True, TOT, Amazon Coffee etc, then they will not want to use your services because they will be more happy to spend 500,000 Baht on a website than 50,000 Baht as 50,000 baht would be too cheap in their mind. At times I wish some of big companies in Thailand approached us more often as their sites are some of the worst I have ever used and always have errors or pages missing.

Conclusion to website design prices in Thailand and what to expect to pay for a new website

I think you get the point about how and why website design prices will vary. We all know that overheads get paid by our customers who use or buy our products and services, but we should never pay silly amounts of money on things we don’t need. Especially in this current business climate when many businesses in Thailand and the world over are suffering.

A little bit more about PattayaMedia.com and why you should choose us to design your website!

We like to save money. We like to keep our overheads low. This is why we are as a matter of fact, the oldest and most famous web design company in Pattaya who for over 17 years as of writing this article, only keep our staff and web design team to an absolute minimum. This is not because we lack ambition, this is because we have a philosophy of only paying for things that we need as opposed to things that we want. Yes, we all want a lovely big office with 3 sports cars parked outside and a beautiful secretary to smile at us every day when we walk into our office – But do we really need it, no, and that is the simple answer.

At PattayaMedia.com we want to help you save money not waste it and we will never let you down!

  1. I wanted to get a website design created by a company in Pattaya and so I contacted many Web design companies in Pattaya to get a price and this article showed me that it’s true because I got so many prices “from 50,000 up to 200,000+ baht for a basic information website design for my Gogo bar in Pattaya.

When the bars open again in Pattaya I would like to contact your company to build my website because the prices I got from other website designers was too high for me and especially under the current situation with virtually no tourists.

  2. I forgot to mention that my friend also owns a restaurant very close to walking street in Pattaya and would like to also have a new website for her business. I will share this article to her email.

  3. I agree with this article because so many times I have requested Web design prices from Bangkok companies however the price varied so much I didn’t understand what will the Cost involved and why so expensive for a new website.

  4. For a 1 to 5 Web page to promote my food business can you please tell me how much it would cost. I am based in Bangkok but can travel to Pattaya because my family have a house there so I live there mostly anyway nowadays and commute early and late Pattaya-Bangkok, Bangkok-Pattaya. Thanks, Milk.

  5. Hi,

Can I get a quote on the cost to design a standard 5 page website please? The website is to advertise translation services. I will also require a .com domain name and web hosting services.
Could I also check what documents if any, do I have to provide? Will scans do?

Do I have to sign a contract? Do you accept scans for that too?
Any other costs I should be aware of?

    Thanks so much!
    Best Regards,
    Peter Smith

    Hello,

Our (new-) WP website recently launched.

After resolving some glitches in the site (there might be a few more to fix), it is probably time to look into some dedicated SEO work to be done.

Previously, we engaged SEO “experts” that were all claiming that they knew everything about the (latest) Google algorithms with lots of bla bla – but without the desired results.

    Very disappointing experiences thus far.

As it is essential for our business, in this highly competitive market, to be “seen” – we consider making yet another attempt to outsource our SEO work to a more serious partner that is able to show RESULTS rather than more “bla bla”.

We don’t employ IT staff, so it would be great if you could suggest a no-nonsense proposal that could actually help us?

Times are rough for everyone at the moment – so I hope that would reflect in your quotation as well… 😉

    Thank you.
